Partition failure

How can I create another partition without it failing? I’m trying to start my laptop up on the proper bootable disk but it keeps starting up on the recovery one.

No start up disk in recovery mode Hi, I asked previously about this and someone suggested mounting the disk that is showing, this is not working. How can I fix this issue? Can I put in on an external hard drive?

Hold down option when starting up your mac. What do you see? If you see Macintosh HD click on it.

If it boots into the OS you are fine, if it boots into recovery again something went wrong and you can reinstall the os over your old one so you can retain all your data.
