6 digit PassCode issue

Dear Apple/Community,

I got into this very strange issue.

I had a 4 digit passcode (which I remember) set for my iPad. I had kept it away for sometime.

Now when I go back to it (powered up) it's asking me 6 digit passcode which I have no idea about what that could be.

What could have gone wrong?

What is the possible solution to get into my iPad?

iPad mini, iOS 9

You’re still likely to a have four digit passcode for ScreenTime restrictions (this was previously known as the Restriction passcode in earlier versions of iOS) - this being entirely separate from your device passcode used to access the device.

If you have forgotten your device passcode, or your device is disabled, you’ll need to follow this procedure:

Provided that you an iCloud or iTunes backup, your data and settings can be reloaded onto your device - so nothing should be lost.
