Amazon prime app on Apple TV has access to my iTunes watch history.

We recently watched a movie on iTunes. The next day, we opened the amazon prime app to watch a series and the amazon prime app recommended movies "based on my views." The movies were all based on what I watched in iTunes! Has anyone else had any experience similar to this? There are no privacy options for the amazon prime app on AppleTV and I was never asked if I wanted to share any of my information with a third party. Doesn't this override Apple's promise that it would not share any information with third party apps?

I should add that I contacted apple support by phone, and they said it must be something to do with the amazon prime settings. There are no privacy settings for that app, and I never allowed them to get my viewing history. Apple's promise is that third party apps do not have access to our information. I think there's something wrong here.
