See Turn off Activation Lock https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201441See this heading If you erased your own device "If you don't sign out of iCloud before you put your device in recovery mode and restore, it might remain in Activation Lock. That means you need to enter the same Apple ID and password that you used when you previously set up the device."

Given what is said above, another Apple ID should not have come up.

______________

So here is what applies to you. Ignoring extenuating circumstances, activation lock can be turned off only by entering the correct Apple ID/password combination. The correct combination is in the one used in setting the device up prior to activation lock being enabled. Note that there is no way we can help you to systematically recover the pertinent Apple ID password. Standard recovery procedures simply cannot work if activation lock is present

Thus, we will not be able to do anything for you except to mention that Apple Support may be willing to help you if you have an extenuating circumstance (e.g., you have the receipt for your purchase of the device with its serial number on it or a court order instructing Apple to assist in the provision of access to a decedent’s information from the deceased person's accounts). See How to request access to a deceased family member's Apple accounts https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208510.

So, if you have an extenuating circumstance, even one not mentioned above, you can contact Apple support for help with your problem using these options:

Have you tried erasing/restoring using Internet Recovery? Try booting into Internet Recovery (command - option/alt - R on a restart). It is a slow process. This will install the newest OS that the computer is compatible with. Reformat the drive using Disk Utility/Erase Mac OS Extended (Journaled), then click the Option button and select GUID. Quit Disk Utility. Then install the OS. When the computer restarts, you can use Setup Assistant to restore your data from Time Machine.

i am honestly using the Apple ID I used to set this MacBook up I bought it 2nd hand and it was completely wiped I had to set it up from scratch and done so with my Apple ID but after it was freezing I decided to wipe it in case there was any virus etc like I have had to do before with my iPad or iPhone so I erased it and removed from iCloud to do a complete fresh install but cannot get passed this activation lock I have no contact with the person I bought this from anymore either. When I try to go onto Apple support I get a page coming up saying 403 forbidden and doesn’t let me into the website I was on earlier and was waiting to be in a chat then it refreshed and now I just keep getting 403 forbidden

I see. I have to admit I thought your situation sounded "funny." We get all sorts of bogus stories about activation lock. What puzzled me is that you said indicated at the outset that your MacBook Air is activation locked. I have never heard of a Mac being activation locked. Are you sure you are using the right term to describe the problem with your Mac.

I completely understand where you are coming from with the situation being “funny” I wish I had taken it to the Apple store before trying to fix myself by wiping it lol I think it’s the correct term the screen shows activation lock and asks u to put Apple ID in which I have but doesn’t work it says there is another Apple ID on this mac not sure where to go now as when I set the mac up I set it up with my Apple ID
