If intending to use higher wattage charger (i.e., over 12W) and are considering a non-Apple “third-party” charger, ensure that it supports PD (Power Delivery protocol). The competing QC (Quick Charge) technology is not compatible with Apple devices.
The iPad Air2 doesn’t support PD - and will accept the standard USB 5V @2.4A (i.e., 12W). The Apple 18W (PD compliant) charger will provide 12W to the Air2.
Newer models of iPad, such as the Air3, can fast charge at 18W.
You can, it would charge a little faster.
It is not harmful to use the higher wattage adapter. The iPad will use what it needs, nothing more. Charge your iPhone with an iPad or Mac notebook power adapter - Apple Support
Thanks dear.
Yeah iPad Air 2 doesn't support QC. But can i get extra benefit or is it harmful to use 18W adapter?
But is it harmful for my iPad Air 2?
Note: I'll use original apple original 18w adapter not 3rd party product.
