Unexpected restart, mac stuck on startup screen

I have a 2017 Macbook Pro. Was working on a lot of stuff and had a lot of applications open, which most likely overwhelmed my Mac, and it restarted unexpectedly. Whenever this happens, it gets stuck on the login screen when progress bar appears after I enter my password. So I restart it with safe mode and that usually fixes the problem. However, that didn’t work this time, so I tried resetting NVRAM/PRAM. Same result, so I tried booting it into recovery mode. The recovery mode pop up never appeared, so I tried safe mode again and now it’s stuck on the Apple logo with the progress bar underneath (no progress on the bar).

Try booting into Internet Recovery Mode using Command + Option + R.

Try running the Apple Diagnostics.
