iPhone 8 vs SE (2nd gen)

When comparing iPhone 8 vs the new iPhone SE, it’s clear the new SE is just an 8 with an upgraded chip. Everything else is identical. The SE has upgraded photo processing, however, like Portrait mode, Depth control, etc. Will the iPhone 8 get an upgrade that allows those improved camera functions? If not, why not?
