Need password to move files to trash

I added an external drive to my mac mini recently and dedicated this ssd to time machine for backups but realised I have to type password each time i need to move files to trash. how can I avoid typing password each time.

Mac mini, macOS 10.15

Please shut down your Mac. Then, disconnect the Time Machine backup drive. Leave it disconnected for now.


Restart your Mac and log in to the User Account that's having the problem. Click anywhere on the Desktop, then select File > New Folder.


An empty folder will appear. Drag it to the Trash. Does the password prompt appear?


After you're finished testing reconnect the Time Machine backup drive.
