Behringer XR18 recording problem

I'm recording my Roland drums on my MacBook pro through a Berhinger XR18 mixer. I've used this setup before with no issues but now the recording is completely distorted and sounds like some kind of electronic feed back, no where near like drums. Tried a different mixer, cable and computer. Everything works great until I hook up to my MacBook pro. I'm not a computer whiz so I don't know if there is a Garage band setting I should be looking for?? Any ideas?
