Subtitles have disappeared from my Apple TV

How do I get the Subtitles or Closed Captioning back onto my Apple TV? Prime Video?

Apple TV+ app My appleTV app is permanently displaying subtitles. I have tried to switch them off using the "Closed Captions and SHD" command in the settings menu but this command is "Greyed Out" and therefore does not function. How do I swich the subtitles off.

Subtitles are controlled in the Setting app and if you have an Apple TV HD or 4K, you can get them in the app too.
