External slot-in Super Slim USB2.0 DVDRW

Following the excellent advice on the subject of ejecting a stuck CD in my Super Slim USB2.0 DVDRW I managed to eject the disk.

BUT my MacBook Air doesn’t register the presence of the device and I can’t read or write anything, though if it ejected the stuck CD it must know it’s there.

Can anyone help please?

Hello keithdb5,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It sounds like your Mac isn’t recognizing your external DVD player. I’m happy to help.

You’ll want to try the steps in the article below:

If the issue persists, reach out to the manufacturer to make sure that the device is compatible with your current macOS version, and for further troubleshooting steps.

Take care.
