FCPX no sound!

I've had this issue before. Trying to audition a clip and press the "I" and "O" before dragging an excerpt of the clip to the time line. Usually this procedure works fine. Today, there is no audio at all. But, if you drag the entire clip to the Time Line you hear audio.

I have a very vague recollection that this has something to do with the audio configuration of that clip. I've messed around with that a bit - but no luck.

Any ideas?

I've attached a screen capture for clarity.

It is a good thing you posted the screenshot, as your terminology is not quite accurate and I would not have quite understood the problem.

That area of the FCP X interface is called the "Browser". As it is, "Audition" means a different thing entirely.

So to sum up you have no sound when playing a clip in the browser. Is this for just this one clip or any clip?

The first thing one usually does when FCP X is not behaving correctly is to delete its preferences.

To delete preferences, hold down command and option while starting FCP X and click Delete Preferences.

FCP X will start in a default state and open a default "Untitled" library.

Reopen the library you were working on and see if things are back to normal.
