Videos that i have taken originally had sound with them. Suddenly the audio part stopped. I suspect it somehow muted itself, but there is no icon to unmute. How do I get the sound back. (P.s. there is no button for auto play in Setting/photo). This changed just happened yesterday.

So you need to update iOS to the latest version.
Unfortunately on my iphone 7 below the photo there are only the upload, heart and trash icon. I have it on the ipad but not the iphone. I understand the new default for playing videos is mute but ... i want to be able to choose to UNMUTE it./. Again this just happened yesterday. Previous to that it actually automatically played. 🤷♀️
In the photo album below photo (if you hold your phone vertically) you should have such options:
so there is icon form muting.
And now no videos on the iphone give sound,,,not just the ones from my photos. Nothing in settings that I can see to do anything. I’ve turned it off and back on a few times.
