So basically, I would like to dual boot Catalina and Mojave on my 2019 Mac Book, but I’m too cheap to buy a USB drive with sufficient capacity. I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to partition the internal drive and format the partition as a bootable installer and if that would actually work. Thank you!
Hmmm. You can purchase a 16GB flash drive for $5-$6 if not less. To answer your question no, you could create a partition but seems like a waste. You would also need to create a third partition or a volume to install Mojave to.
I suppose you could create a small volume to create an installer on and delete it afterwards.
FWIW, what I did with one of my iMacs running Catalina. I created a Mojave bootable installer on a small flash drive, created a second volume on the iMac, booted from the flash drive and installed Mojave to the new volume. Easy Peasy.
Sorry, I should have been clearer. I was planning on making a separate AFPS volume to install Mojave on and then deleting the installer partition once I was done with it. Would that work?
I’ll look in to the USB option (I didn’t realize they were so inexpensive), but I’m just curious if this is even possible.
