Can't export iMovie project

When I attempt to export my iMove project (to file, to YouTube, to email ... anywhere) is fails.

I get this error message ...

The operation couldn’t be completed.

(com.apple.Compressor.CompressorKit.ErrorDomain error -1.)

I noticed that this became an issue AFTER I updated my Macbook Air to 10.11.6 - OS X El Capitan

I have tried ...

  • uninstalling / reinstalling iMovie
  • freeing up more memory (deleting cache, etc ...)
  • rebooting in SAFE mode
  • checking for corrupted content

Nothing seems to work.

Has anyone out there has this issue before?

Thank you

MacBook Air

Take a look at this poster's solution that is the latest I have on the perplexing CompressorKit:Error:

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251266351

It's an intriguing solution that might just work.

The Compressor Kit Error message has been reported with increasing frequency

of late. I suspect that it might be caused by Apple's recent updates--possibly an iTunes

update as the poster in the previous link found. Otherwise, no universal fix so far,

although lately users with the problem have been able to fix it by reinstalling/updating/upgrading iMovie and, if

necessary, the operating system.  Also sometimes successful is starting up in Safe Mode (see Finder menu for

instructions) and then after everything loads immediately shutting down and

rebooting in normal mode.
