iPod Touch 7 errors aplenty

I've only had my iPod Touch 7 since February and it creates so many problems that I'm reconsidering my purchase. My iPod Classic 6 (which is 13½ years old) doesn't give me any grief like this thing does and the Touch is supposed to represent the latest in software and technology. I question that since it seems like these issues have been around for many years because in my many, many attempts to find solutions to these problems, the same descriptions go back almost 10 years, so I have no idea why Apple wouldn't have fixed these issues already. Here are the error messages I've gotten so far:

The iPod "Mike's iPod Touch" cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (-54). (CONSTANTLY)

The iPod "Mike's iPod Touch" cannot be synced. A duplicate file name was specified.

The iPod "Mike's iPod Touch" cannot be synced. There are too many files open currently.

"Trust This Computer?" every time I connect iPod.

I gotten the -54 error so many times I'm surprised my blood pressure hasn't boiled over yet. I've been told that's due to something or other being locked but I've checked what I've been told to check and nothing seems to be amiss with that. "Read only" is not checked on the files.

The iPod itself shows the wrong album cover art (from some other album or song already uploaded) more often than not, even though when connected to iTunes, the files in iTunes display correctly. It'll show the wrong cover as soon as I put the song on the iPod. This is a major issue with me, one that shouldn't even be an issue at all. I should mention that this only happens when I add songs that have been uploaded from my CDs (not iTunes purchases. Not yet, anyway). I do go through and add all the correct information, including the cover, with Mp3Tag so there shouldn't be any problems with the covers but the iPod just ignores that (the covers....all other info shows correctly).

I've tried resetting the iPod, wiping all the tracks, pretty much any of the so-called "solutions" I've seen online and nothing works. I've called Apple Support and spoke to at least three different people and they had no idea what to do, other than to tell me to take it to Best Buy and have the hardware looked at (which I can't even imagine would be the issue, since this is the second of the same iPod I've gotten. The first one did all the exact same things so I returned it, not knowing they weren't defects specific that the one I got originally). I paid $290 for this thing. I don't think it's too much to ask for it to work properly. If I have to jump through 5 miles' worth of hoops to get it to do what it's supposed to do, then it's absolutely no improvement over much older operating systems. Quite the reverse. I don't care about most of the other software on it. I just want the music player to work like it's supposed to.

Any helpful help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for the tone, but I'm beyond aggravated with this thing.

iPod software version: iOS 13.4.1

iTunes Version: 12.10.6.2

(And before it comes up, the same issues happen whether the software on both is up to date or one version behind. No updates have changed anything.)

I still need help with these issues. Obviously I'm not the only since I've seen many people with the same problems in my search for solutions. I have specified what the problems are and I shouldn't be getting sent to a page that has nothing to do with what I described in detail. If there are answers, please help me by addressing them, not by sending me to a page that won't help. Thank you to anyone who can help.
