One airpod not working

Ever since I got my airpods last March, I have had problems with one airpod not working. Each time I have tried to reset and clean, but it hasn't worked. I know it is not something to do with my hearing because it switches airpods. The airpods usually work great for a few months until one goes out. I am tired of having to get replacements, and I don't know why this is happening to me. I take great care of my airpods, so I do not understand why this keeps happening to me.
