Connecting USB Monitor to New MacBook Air

Hello, I just purchased the new MacBook Air and am trying to connect it to my ASUS USB monitor (MB168B). I am plugging it into my adaptor but it is not being recognized as another display. I haven't found any other solutions online. It is recognizing HDMI monitors.

Please assist!!

Thank you! I had checked out the article you recommended but it didn't fix the issue. I contacted ASUS and they were able to assist me. They provided the below response along with additional instructions.

After the Mac is upgraded to version 10.15, there are many software permissions locked. You need to change the system settings in the system.

First, after downloading our 5.2.1 driver on the ASUS official website, you need to make the following settings within 30 minutes. If it exceeds the time, you will need to install the user and re-install it and set it in 30 minutes

At present, there are two items that need to be set in the system. Both of them are set under the security and privacy of system preference. 1. System extension 2. Screen recording

Hello MorgFost,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities! Congrats on the new MacBook Air! I'll be happy to do what I can to help with connecting the external monitor.

Have you gone through the steps in this macOS User Guide page? Connect a display, TV, or projector to Mac

I'd also recommend checking with the manufacturer for compatibility. I noticed on their page for this monitor, it says not compatible with MacBook or MacBook Pro. Verify if that also includes MacBook Air, and also if compatible with macOS Catalina.

ASUS MB168B

Take care!
