iMessage using 4.8GB of iCloud

I am currently out of space on my iCloud because iMessage is using 4.8GB of data. Going into Setting > iCloud > Manage Storage. Says Messages is using 4.8GB. Then clicking into messages shows that my top conversations are taking up 247.5MB.

Where is rest of the space being taken up? A video someone sent me eating all the space but not showing in the conversations?

How do I get the space back?

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities, Xaphann!

I understand you're seeing Messages taking up too much storage on iCloud. I'd be happy to provide information to help you address this.

Try the suggestions outlined here: Manage your iCloud storage

"Make more space available in iCloud

If you run out of iCloud storage, your device won’t back up to iCloud, new photos and videos won't upload to iCloud Photos, and iCloud Drive, other iCloud apps, and text messages won't stay up to date across your devices. And you can't send or receive emails with your iCloud email address.

You can free up storage in iCloud by deleting content that you're not using:

Before you delete anything, you might want to archive or make copies of the information you store in iCloud."

I hope this helps.

Have a great day!
