icloud photos

When I click "Icloud Photos" to automatically upload and safely store all your photos and videos.... I get the message "this iPhone was not able to download 3,305 full resolution photos and videos. If you continue, the low resolution versions of these photos and videos will be removed"

My question is - in order to get the high res photos back onto my phone, if I accept the prompt and "remove from iphone" will I lose photos? Or will i just gain all the high res photos back and only lose the low res versions of the same photos (which i obviously dont care about!) - I hope this is a clear question

Thanks in advance

Hello marnie132,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. I understand you have questions about what happens to your high-resolution photos when turning on iCloud Photos.

Like the message states, it will remove the low resolution photos in an attempt to download the high resolution ones. Even if it isn't able to download either, those photos would still be in iCloud and just may not be available on the device itself. To be sure, check the iCloud website from a supported browser: iCloud

You can also find more information here about how to Set up and use iCloud Photos.

Enjoy.
