iPhone 7, text notifications

My iPhone 7 with IOS 13.4.1 will ring on incoming calls but there's not any notification on incoming text messages

Thanks for stopping by the Apple Support Communities for help with notifications. I understand that while your phone rings for incoming calls, it does not play sounds/give you notification for incoming messages. I'm happy to help!

First, make sure you have notifications and alert sounds set for the Messages app: Use notifications on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support. Check the "If you don't see notifications for a specific app" section for troubleshooting steps.

If you still need help after that, make sure Hide Alerts isn't enabled for your Messages threads: Use Messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support.

Joseph_S. Thanks for your response. I have tried what you suggested and MUCH, MUCH more! After several hours of research, and trying umpteen recommendations, we found a solution to my problem. On impulse, we turned off iMessage and the problem was solved! What I don't know is whether or not turning iMwssage off will have a negative affect on something else! As of right now, we receive incoming call, text, etc. notifications..........both visual and audible. It's interesting that absolutely none of the many, many suggestions mentioned this! Ya'll have a good day and stay healthy!
