12 inch Macbook battery needing service again

My 12 inch Macbook (made in 2017) had the battery replaced in late December and on the battery status bar it says it needs to be serviced again. I thought the battery would have lasted longer- I checked and it has only been thru about 480 cycles. I was told the battery should be replaced every 1000 cycles. Is this normal and will it keep needing a replacement every 5 months or so?
