iPhone XR Audio Switches to Mono

My iPhone XR keeps going mono. Only a restart fixes it.

It's running the latest release of iOS 13, but I'm sure this was happening with iOS 12 as well. It happens on wireless headphones (AirPods, Beats), and it happens via the Lightning port (CarPlay, speaker with Lightning adapter) as well. I've checked the Mono Audio switch in Accessibility - Audio/Visual as well as the L/R balance and they are all set properly.

Does anyone have any other ideas? I'm pretty particular about my audio so every time this happens it's annoying. Especially in the car, because I have to pull over to restart the iPhone if I want the stereo sound back.

Hello Joe Muscara.

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. If I'm understanding correctly, the audio on your iPhone XR keeps reverting to mono, and you have to restart in order to regain the stereo sound. I will be glad to assist.

Is the issue occurring while using a specific app? If so, check out this resource for some steps that can help resolve this:

If an app unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open

Cheers.
