There is dithering in Dolby Vision playback on Apple TV 4K

Hello, I am having issues with Dolby Vision on my Apple TV 4K device. When watching movies with black bars on scenes with low light there is dithering going on in the picture which causes the blacks to look a little lighter. It’s easier to see at night but still present. I don’t notice this with other devices playing back the same material. I used Lost In Space Episode 1 (right at the beginning) on Netflix as an example and I have a C9 OLED. This also happens with iTunes movies and Disney+. Any fix for this in the works? Thanks!

How is the Apple TV connected to the Internet, using a Ethernet cable or via Wi-Fi? I would first try in this order:

Restart the Modem
Restart the Router
Restart the Apple TV

If the problem persists, verify you have a very high quality HDMI cable. If the problem persists consider upgrading the network to a Mesh Network to ensure you have excellent coverage in every corner of your home.

Monoprice makes great cables very true but you need one that is designed for 4K. Have you verified the cable is designed for 4K or better? If it is then please reset the modem, router and Apple TV as indicated.

If the problem still persists, check the Mesh Network's utility to verify it is placed well for your home. If it still persists please give AppleCare a ring and see if they have any insight. AppleCare contact Information

Hello, I have it directly connected to my Google WiFi Mesh router. I bought my cables from Monoprice which are of great quality. I don’t believe it’s a network issue as other devices seem to work fine. I have tested Dolby Vision on both the FireTV Stick 4K and the built in LG WebOS apps and don’t have the problem.
