Can't access a font (FFIL) in Gimp 2.10.14 on macOS Mojave

I have a font that I would like to use in Gimp 2.10.14 on my macOS Mojave 10.14.6. The font shows up fine in Font Book and is available in Pages, but doesn't show up properly in Gimp, i.e. it is listed by name, but with just some sort of generic thumbnail . I located the relevant file, but it had no file extension (Lucida Calligraphy) but it is apparently a font suitcase file. I copied it to the relevant user folder in the Gimp tree structure - /Users/{username}/Library/Application Support/GIMP/2.10/fonts, but still no joy.

I just wanted to check if anyone on this forum is able to help.

iMac 27", macOS 10.14
