Hi - I would appreciate the location of detailed documentation of the the Project or timeline window. I have reviewed the documentation book in iBooks as well as the on-line documentation and I find it wanting.

What documentation are you referring to in Books? The entire user manual is available there, or online, https://support.apple.com/en-ca/guide/final-cut-pro/welcome/mac, or through the Help menu.

What would you need compound clips for? You should not use them as an editing project.

It's a compendium of family reunions from 1989 to 2019. Each year is an event and essentially a project. The media consists of digitized 8 mm videotape, h.264 from various cameras and numerous still shots from over the years. When each one is done I will string them all together in a single timeline.
