My iPhone and iwatch all of the sudden are receiving texts at the same time, while my phone is unlocked and in use (texting). Prior to this, my iwatch would only alert me of texts if my phone was locked— which is what I prefer. Any ideas how to get back to this setting? I recently got a XR phone, but my settings all switched over and remained the same.

But I suspect they are OK and it should work as you prefer.
The first (and simplest) thing to try if something isn’t working right is to restart your Apple Watch and its paired iPhone. If necessary (device not responding), try a forced restart. Both methods can be found here:
