error msgs trying to access any system preferences

I recently noticed I cannot access ANY of the system preferences on my MacBook Pro. OS 10.15.2. I have not been able to update software. I get an error msg when I try to open ANY system preference.

Try booting into Safe Mode, then restart normally.
