Can I plug an Apple TV straight into a PC monitor and watch using streaming channels?

Any display with HDMI (and HDCP) support should suffice.

It would help if this monitor has built-in audio options.

Apple TV will work with any output device that supports HDMI. To use streaming channels make sure you're connected to WIFI or ethernet and follow the login prompts.
