I have set up my child's iPad with all settings "PG" where available, yet when I browsed the "Books" app, I realized they were promoting adult books! I could even download samples of these books with no problem. I can't seem to find a way to limit promotion, availability and/or search of books within an "age appropriate" field!
I have family sharing turned on.
Try Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Content Restrictions > Books > Clean.

Report this to Apple ASAP:
Seems like something Apple should be made aware of on an ASAP basis. Apple will not get back to you directly, but the more they are made aware of an incident, the more they will know what needs to be fixed, and how yo meet their customers' expectations.
