iPad corrupting my sd card from my camera

i use my iPad to run Lightroom to process photos. I am having an issue now. I can read the images from my sd card using the iPad sd card reader attached. I can see them using the files app and store the images. I can import them into Lightroom Mobile. When I remove the sd card and put it back into my camera the camera is telling the card is no formatted. Won't read anything. I then have to format the card in the camera. This seems to be a new issue. I have not updated any firmware on the camera. Any suggestion or thoughts? Thanks.
