MacBook Pro Catalina Home Screen Frozen
Yesterday I updated MacBook Pro from El Capitan to Catalina. Today when trying to change screen resolution I gave up and shut down. When I turned back on Home Screen frozen and no cursor.

Was there any change when attempting Safe Mode?

What I should have added is that when I turn it on the Apple logo appears and then goes to Home Screen. I most likely could proceed with my inputting password but the cursor is not visible.
