I had the same issue with my new iPhone SE 2020. Battery was incredibly disappointing for what I’ve known from my Apple products. I could see the battery percentage ticking down just reading articles (as some others described “a percentage point every 2 min” or so). Like others on here, I did the typical battery saving tips. Biggest clue for me was the first day I took it to work. I don’t have time to look at my phone at work except during my lunch. By the time I got home after 11hrs, I only had 20% battery life. Battery usage indicator told me that Apple Music was responsible for 87% of my battery usage. However, I had only looked at app for abt 3 mins during initial set up of my phone— never actually used it. The rest was background activity (even tho I turned off background app refresh for all apps). As a result of this finding, I uninstalled the Apple Music app. This DRASTICALLY improved my battery life. Next 11hr work day, my phone had only dropped to 78% with light browsing at lunch and a few txts. I used it to browse some social media/watch a few videos at home, but decided to keep off charger overnight. I’m writing up this comment right now with the phone having been off the charger for over 26hrs and I still have 34% battery life. This is much more inline with what I expected given how much i leave it in idle. Wondering if anyone else has the same issue with the Apple Music app possibly going rogue... uninstalling it helped me tremendously.

Is this a joke? How is it possible that you even have to turn off your phone during the night or use airplane mode to save some battery? What is the point of having a smartphone if you have to stop notifications, erase data and keep apps to a bare minimum just to get through the day? I was about to change my 3 year old Xperia Ultra for an Iphone SE, since a couple of months ago I got an IPad mini 5 and I've really enjoyed ios. I wanted to experience the famous Apple Ecosystem, even considered buying a MacBook Pro, but reading your replies have really put me off. We know we pay a premium with Apple and one of the reasons we accept that is their acclaimed customer service, but I don't see it in this thread. I have experienced battery drain with old Samsungs (S6) and ancient HTCs (one). Battery life was the reason I moved from those brands. Then I got a Nokia Lumia 1520, which after several years still holds a charge pretty decently. And my current phone, as I already said, it's a 3 year old Xperia Xa2 Ultra. Believe or not, with all the apps I use running in the background and no power saving tweaks whatsoever, my battery has dropped just 7% after reading these 20 pages. I really wanted to change it for the SE, especially for the size, and to get something more up to date. But I can live with a big, old and somewhat slow phone. I cannot live with a poorly optimized battery

I am having the same issues with the battery. The problem is I’m not even working at the current moment and I can’t imagine if I was working the phone would be almost useless. I’m probably gonna have to trade it in and pay more money for something else. Apple you should be ashamed yourself don’t you test the batteries at all on these phones before you release them!

Hope someone is following this to provide their thoughts. Bought a new SE2020 a month ago with 14.2 from the box. It was having issues with proximity sensor, which later I figured out was the protection glass that caused it to function this way.

But I was silly enough to believe that it might be software problem and upgraded to 14.6 several days later after the buy. Now I'm having the battery drain in idle of -1% every ~30-40 mins. I'm not a heavy user whatsoever: it's typically 4-5 notifications in 30mins here and there from WhatsApp/Telegram/Mail. And even this causes the new phone (100% battery health) to drain that quickly in idle.

Is it the same for everyone? I understand that A13 is far more "heavy" than A11 in iPhone 7 but losing that much just from a few notifications is awful for a 1m old phone. Just wondering is it 14.6 specifically which causes such drain in idle (saw a lot if angry messages about 11,12, 12PM) or it's just a tiny 1800 mah capacity of the battery?

Please let me know if any older ios 14.x is better in terms of battery life. Important note: I'm ALWAYS on low power mode, which does not seem to make any difference at all.

I went from an iPhone 6S to an SE because of the battery and memory space. I don't use my phone a lot. I expected the SE to be a lot better of a battery but it is about the same as my old phone. My mother is having the same problems with her SE phone as well. I know it is one of the cheaper phones but still with the cost and technology it should be better. I believe Apple should take care of this problem.
