permissions for apps

Hi,

I am running 10.13.6 on a Mini Mid 2011 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5. I tried to make an alias for an app, Bitdefender's Antivirus for Mac.app, and was denied access because I don't have the necessary permission.

When I checked Info, I see that Administrator, me, is not listed. And, when I try to add Admin, I am denied permission. System is the only one listed with read & write permission. Wheel and Everyone are Read only.

I've noticed that is the status with some other folders and apps. After checking some other folders and apps, it seems that most if not all non-third party allow access but apps associated with Mac (Preview, Disk Utility, Photos, Boot Camp, etc.) do not. In fact they list "Everyone" with Custom access above the Read and write access for Syatems, which I don't get.

Not sure if this matters: Antivirus for Mac.app is not listed in the Apps folder; it's under Library/Bitdefender/AVP.

Is there any way for me to have access to those apps that deny me access?

Thanks,

Gregg

Thanks for your reply.

I want to add the alias to my dock. I really don't need and don't want access to the Apple apps that are protected. I do want the app in question and don't want to uninstall it. Is a protected directory set by the app developer? Would Apple set this third-party app as a protected directory during installation? If not, I should contact the developer about the issue, don't you think?
