Shared folder not showing in Finder

I have shared a folder on my iCloud drive with my wife.

The shared folder shows up fine in Files on her iPhone and iPad, but does not show up in Finder on her Mac.

I see the folder without issues on my iPhone, iPad and MacOS computers.

My wife’s MacOS is more recent than those I am running, so I don’t think version is the problem.

Any suggestions to get this working properly are appreciated.

If you can upgrade your mac to Catalina, you can share folders by sending a link. Then she should be able to open the folders using the link in a web browser, even on an older system.

First I ctrl-click the folder on iCloud Drive, then select "Share > Add people".

In the "Add People" dialog I select "Copy Link" and specify the access rights as "Anyone with the Link". Otherwise we will not be able to see the link.

The link will be copied to the paste board, when I click "Share" and I can mail it.

Hey Bruno.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! Thanks for your question about the issue you're seeing with a shared folder via iCloud. I'd be happy to see how I can help you get that working one your wife's Mac.

Has this shared folder ever worked on that particular Mac? You mentioned that her machine was on a newer version of macOS than yours. Which version is currently running on her Mac? Check the information in Share folders and files in iCloud Drive on iPhone to make sure that the permissions are set such that the Mac in question would be able to review the contents.

Let me know if that happens to cause the items to reappear.

Take care.

This is the first time we are sharing an iCloud folder.

My wife’s AppleID has permission to access my shared folder. She can see it on her iPad, iPhone, and on the iCloud website, but not in Finder on her Mac (which is on MacOS 10.14.6).

Re. “make sure that the permissions are set such that the Mac in question would be able to review”:

There are no machine-specific sharing permissions that I can find anywhere - I can share with an individual, and all other devices on her account can see the share, so she has permission. Only her Finder on her Mac (logged into her same AppleID) cannot see the share.

On my macs I am only seeing the shared folders on iCloud Drive since the macOS 10.15.4 upgrade.

When I share a folder on iCloud Drive I can see it on my macs with older systems as well, because my iCloud Drive is syncing all my folders, shared or not, but only on the Catalina Macs I am seeing "Shared by Me" aded to the name of the folder and it is recognised as a shared folder.
