"Video to GIF" shortcut doesn't work

I have an iPhone SE 2020 and the iOS version is 13.4. I found a shortcut "Video to GIF" in the Shortcuts Gallery and I added it to My Shortcuts but it doesn't work. When I attempted to use it, it always says "Not Videos. You do not have any videos in your Camera Roll" and "No Items. The Quick Look action wasn't passed any items to preview". Actually I do have videos in my Camera Roll. How to solve this problem or it is a bug?

iPhone SE, iOS 13

Hi mangosteenG,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. I understand you added a shortcut from the Gallery of, "Videos to GIF" but you're unable to access the Camera Roll on your iPhone.

Shortcut is a convenient feature to quickly complete one or more tasks. I'll be happy to help.

Based on the error message you're seeing, you'll need to make sure that, "Photos" is turned on in order to allow access of the Camera Roll for "Allow to GIF" in the Shortcuts app. I personally tested this on my device and here are the steps that can help resolve the error message you're seeing:

  1. In the Shortcuts app, tap on "My Shortcuts" in the bottom left corner.
  2. Tap on the three dots in "Videos to GIF" to open the shortcuts editor.
  3. Underneath, "Done" in the upper right corner, tap on the three dots.
  4. Make sure, "Photos" is turned on in the section that says, Allow "Videos to GIF" to access.

From there, see if you can add photos or videos in "Videos to GIF."

Please let me know if that helps.

Kind regards.

mangosteenG,

Thanks for getting back to us and for providing us that information.

If you haven't tried yet, I recommend to delete the shortcut from the My Shortcuts tab and to re-add it from the Gallery tab. From there, see if you can access the videos on your iPhone for the shortcut of, "Video to GIF" without any issue.

In addition, you'll want to make sure that you have, "Content & Privacy Restrictions" turned off within Screen Time. To check, you can go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions.

Cheers.
