Office documents on ipad
Trouble with opening Excel files wont open on ipad., Is a weird issue where the docs he opens are not the current versions.

Confirm you’re updated to current. Both Office apps, and iPadOS.
Confirm the document opens in another Microsoft Office Excel implementation.
Maybe try opening this Excel file Google docs.
Try opening the Excel file in Apple Numbers app, too.
But as correctly mentioned above, a bug in a Microsoft app is best routed to the folks in Microsoft Support.
