my ipad will not let me type in verification code

why won't my ipad let me enter verification code? it comes up on my mac and iphone but I cannot enter on my ipad

iPad mini 5 Wi-Fi, Cellular

Hello,

This sounds like it is related to Two-Factor Authentication. You will need to generate a secure code from another device and type it after your password. Example: password123456

after I enter apple id and password it says apple id verification code required. Type your other device. A code comes up on my mac and my iphone but no where to enter it on my ipad (which is the device I need to open)
