macbook pro 13.2 battery issue

macbook pro 13.2 (2016 model) battery bq20z451 was working just fine with ample backup time (206 cycles). all of a sudden i find my macbook pro turns off when unplugged and then saw battery message of 1% and replace now. cant understand why this happened. i have been thru smc reset, doesnt work. upgraded to newer OS version 10.15.4 catalina. still problem is there. havent moved my laptop to any place else that may have caused damage to laptop. any ideas, whats wrong?

You need to have the battery replaced. It has malfunctioned. Please disconnect the AC charger and turn off the computer. Make an appointment at the Apple Genius Bar for service after the stores re-open. If you need to find an Apple Store - Find a Store - Apple. Also, see How to find your nearest Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) or Distributor (AAD).

If the battery is user-replaceable, then visit OWC to see if they have a replacement battery for your model.
