Forgot Mac Password (Not AppleID)

I can't remember the password for my mac. I've tried all of the instructions on https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202860.

When I try to reset with AppleID, it still asks for the password that I use to unlock the computer, but that's the problem, I don't know the password to the computer. This is for the "admin" person. See, can't change the password via the admin person because that's me!

I found instructions to reset password from Recovery Mode, but I'm not sure about doing that (I'm not that savvy so I don't want to screw it up)

So, if none of the instructions from apple support's page don't work, how do I reset the computer password?

You can't really screw anything up. Just follow the instructions. They are very simple.

Boot from the Recovery HD

Restart the computer.
Immediately, at or before the chime press and hold down the "COMMAND" and "R" keys together.
Release the keys when the Apple logo and progress bar appear.
Upon completion the Utility Menu should appear.

Change or reset the password of a macOS user account - Apple Support.
