Control Bar is unresponsive

Recently the control bar (area with brightness and volume) hasn't been touch responsive lately. I'm curious if anyone knows how to resolve this or what can be done. The computer is brand new, bought in January.

Thank you!

I have found the most effective way to solve this issue is to shut down your MacBook. Press and hold down the power button for 10 seconds. It may attempt to startup but continue to hold the power button. After 10 seconds press it again an immediately release to allow the Mac to startup. Apparently this clears out any active files that are stuck. This is an Apple recommended remedy.
