Connect phone number to iPad for iMessage/FaceTime without iPhone

Hey all! For context, the only Apple device I have is an iPad. I was wondering if it's possible to use my phone number from my dumbphone (Lightphone II) to send/receive iMessages and FaceTime conversations.

iPad is setup in the following way

  • registered my (US) phone number to my iCloud account
  • send/recieve is setup for my email address

So even though my phone number is registered to my iCloud account and I'm "reachable" with that number, it doesn't come up as an option to send/receive iMessages/FaceTime conversations in the Settings app.

Any help is appreciated!

Hello,

You must have an iPhone for this feature. The iPhone acts as a pass through device which routes messages and calls through the iPhone to another device. If the iPhone is out of the equation then there is physically no way for those calls and messages to reach your iPad.
