Apple watch 1 - Stuck at software update watch 1 and will not process

Hi guys, might need some help. Have an apple watch 1 38mm and trying to update. Had the green snake, then hard reset, managed to get the pairing screen up. Paired this with the phone and proceeds to tell me need to check for updates. The phone checks and tells me the watch is up to date on watchOS 1 and wont do anything further from here. Its stuck. Is there something that i need to do or is this thing as good as done?
