Since changing to built-in batteries for notebook computer about 2009, Apple have insisted on only replacing batteries in an Apple Store or repair facility. They never sold batteries as a service part except to Apple Authorized Service Providers, who are supposed to install the batteries when they sell them. So basically any battery sold as a repair part and identified with markings and/or packaging as "Apple" is suspect.

There are brands that use their own markings, like Anker and NewerTech. They are not trying to fool anyone.

In this case, SIMPLO is a battery vendor Apple uses for original batteries and the numbers and manufacture date look OK. I guess you can see how it holds up.

From whom did you buy the battery? If web-ordered I would love to have a link to how it was represented.

Your laptop is still supported by Apple. While the Apple repair price may be a bit higher I think it is well worth it if you will be keeping the laptop for a while. The quality of third party Lithium-ion batteries is extremely poor even when purchased from a reputable vendor such as OWC. In order to have Apple replace the battery you would need to still have the original Apple battery, otherwise Apple will not perform a battery replacement repair.
