USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter

Hello,

I have Apple Store credit I'd like to use and want to purchase the Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter. I'd like to use it between a new dell PC and a small Samsung TV with a HDMI connection. Can I do this or is the Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter proprietary to a Mac. ?

It should work, but there are cheaper, non-Apple ones available if you don't need the extra USB and charging ports.
