iPhone 11 Hot, Unresponsive Black Screen, No Sound, No Vibration

I picked my iPhone 11 up off my desk to make a call. The phone was hot and the screen black and unresponsive. I tried the tap volume up, tap volume down, and hold screen button several times - holding the last button for over a minute. I waited for the phone to cool, I assume for the battery to drain, and when I plugged it in it just got hot again and starts to cool as soon as unplugged.

The phone had the latest iOS installed in early April.

This phone has never been dropped, or exposed to moisture or heat. Even if Apple Stores were open, I live a couple hours from the nearest Apple Store and statewide quarantine discourages travel.

Is there any fix or known issues?

Apparently the phone worked by the time it got to the technicians. I don't know why they removed the screen protector if that was the case. I wish the email was less dire than "our technicians weren't able to process your repair request".

So to recap, my iPhone 11 just randomly got hot on its own. The volume up / volume down hold the right side button trick didn't work. Presumably, my iPhone battery eventually died when the phone ceased being a heater. I let the phone be overnight and didn't try plugging it in for over 24 hours. When I plugged my phone into my computer, the phone immediately heated up and iTunes never recognized the phone. After charging overnight the phone was still hot but cooled off after unplugging. I tried different chargers and cables and the button trick several times.

I'm worried that a cable connection is loose and the ride to Apple jostled it back into position. It might just be a matter of time before my iPhone is a heater again. Hopefully the technicians did more than the letter states or this is a software bug that will be squashed in the next iOS update.

I've tried the "Contact Support" option. They want to schedule a phone call. I'm sure that works great when one's phone is working and not a brick. I've already scheduled a call and the soonest is 8:30 PM Monday. Apple automatically selected my billing number and not my contact number so - ugh this is so frustrating!

I couldn't find email or text chat.

I don't want to send it in without communicating with Apple first. Applecare is still active but I'm afraid Apple will still want to charge me an arm and a leg for something that is obviously a hardware defect. I was hoping there was a recall or some acknoledgement on Apple's part that there is an known issue.

I never use Twitter but I imagine any response would be to call.
