Mirroring Macbook Pro to Hisense Smart TV

I cannot for the life of me find a simple app, website or even decent instructions to mirror my MacBook Pro to my smart Hisense TV. I have searched so many different versions of the question and cannot find a clear option to make this work. All i keep getting is options to mirror my iPhone or ios device to Mac, or AirbeamTV and am not to happy with the reviews so i dont want to download it just to be disappointed.

The TV is a Hisense 49R4 and my mac is a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015)

Can anyone shed some light on this issue please?

MacBook Pro 13", macOS 10.15

Leah Jane,

Thank you for reaching out at Apple Support Communities today. If I understand correctly, you’re wanting to use your Smart TV with your MacBook Pro. It sounds like you may be trying to mirror to your TV with software on your MacBook Pro, but you’ll need to use an adapter to connect your computer to the TV to get it to work.

Doing a quick bit of research on your Hisense Smart TV, it looks like you have two HDMI inputs and two USB ports. Your MacBook Pro has both Thunderbolt digital video output and HDMI video output.

This means you can use an HDMI cable and a USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter with an HDMI cable to connect to your TV, and you should be able to use it as an external display.

I suggest sticking with the Apple adapter: USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter - Apple

Once you get it set up, these articles will be invaluable:

Use an external display with your MacBook Pro

Get help with video issues on external displays connected to your Mac

Cheers.
