Why no more updates for MacBook Air at 10.3.6 intel core i5

Why have no updates been available for my MacBook Air for a long time? Bought in 2012, intel core i5, currently at 10.3.6. Specifically, my bank website says that Safari is out of date (12.0.3) and no longer secure. I plan on using Firefox instead, assuming that I can update to a secure version of that. Thanks for any info!

Depending on exactly which model you have it can be upgraded to:

MacBook Air 2011 --- macOS 10.13 High Sierra

MacBook Air 2012 --- macOS 10.15 Catalina

You can get the exact model by clicking on the Apple menu and selecting "About this Mac".

Just be careful with upgrading to macOS 10.15 Catalina if your laptop is compatible since Catalina does not support 32bit apps:

Make sure to update your 32bit apps to 64bit versions or uninstall them by following the developer's instructions before upgrading to Catalina.

To upgrade to later macOS versions open the App Store and search for "macOS" or download and install macOS from the links on this page (make sure to check the minimum system requirements for the OS):
