iPhone XS Max full memory Error 14

I’ve got a serious problem with my iPhone XS Max 256 Gb

It started when my phone memory was full and it was working too slowly. I rebooted it, and it got stuck in a boot loop (apple logo). I then tried to put in in Recovery Mode and update it via Mac/PC (It did not have the latest iOS). The upgrade failed halfway through with Error 14. Then I opened the iPhone and disconnected the LCD etc., but still, Error 14 appeared when I was trying to upgrade. Now it is stuck in Recovery Mode.

I've read a lot of messages from people who have the same problem! We need a skeleton IOS for this situation! Apple have really made a mistake in allowing a phone to reach such a full capacity

It is a tragedy to lose my photos and videos!!! There are the best moments of my life in this locked phone! I need help!

Support service recommended me to restore my phone with no opportunity to save my data! That’s completely impossible! My photos and videos were an integral part of my life. There should be the way out! Help me, please!

All, I found a good how-to inside one of apple forums here, just in case you think I’m trying to damage your phone downloading a malicious software, this trick is legit (search for thread 5180100, page 3, “My phone has gone into recovery mode...”). For my case it didn’t concluded the download but since it reached almost 97% of loading bar, my phone turned back on.

To anyone who is searching through this post looking for an answer to the original question, let me tell you this. NO.. YOUR INFORMATION IS NOT GONE AND YOU CAN STILL GET IT BACK. If your iphone is stuck in recovery mode, you can still get your photos, contacts, and any other information needed back again.

I know you're probably frustrated like I was of people saying things like "just restore from back up", or "you have to restore the iphone first to get it working again"...or suggesting tools like Dr. Fone, and TinyUmbrella which don't work at all because the phone isn't being recognized in Windows explorer or by the USB in general.

This is what you have to do. Repeat, this is ONLY for an iphone that is able to be turned on an all you get is the usb plug saying plug into itunes screen (the Recovery Mode screen).

This process is for Windows. I think some MAC users will be able to follow it also, but the instructions are for PC users.

1.) Turn your iphone on if it isn't already.

2.) Load up itunes (make sure you have the latest Itunes. I would even suggest that you uninstall your itunes if it isn't up to date, through Control Panel Add/Remove programs, and then go to the Itunes website and download the latest version.)

3.) When you load up Itunes, it will tell you that your iphone needs to be updated or restored. Just click okay or cancel to get that dialog box out of the way. Then just minimize the itunes for right now.

4.) Download the firmware (just type on your browser example “firmware iphone 11 pro max”) for your correct model of iphone (remember to download IOS 14.2, NOT 14.3). Just choose your model from the drop down boxes. Once you've chosen everything, click the Download button. It will produce a link. Just click the link and take note of where that file downloads on your computer.

5.) Once the download finishes, go back to Itunes...and you'll have two buttons to click... Restore and Update. VERY IMPORTANT: Hold down the SHIFT key and click UPDATE (SHIFT + UPDATE) .

6.) A box will pop up to search for a file. Navigate to the folder that you downloaded the firmware file in step 4 to. And choose that file.

7.) Then Itunes will tell you things like Blah blah..this file might not work, if your phone can't be updated it will have to be restored....blah blah. Just click OK through all of that and start the update.

8.) Your phone will update to the latest firmware after a pretty lengthy process, maybe about 30-40 mins. Could be longer, but it will work. Don't get anxious, don't unplug the iphone because you think it's frozen or something. There will be times when it seems like it's not doing anything. Just sit back, put on a netflix movie, and continue to monitor the process from time to time. Soon your iphone will turn back on...and everything will be updated and back to normal.

BACK IT UP IMMEDIATELY!

I hope this works for a lot of you out there, and I hope it gives those of you like me who felt there was no hope.......a little bit of relief.

Joining you, boys&gilrs! )

My case is pretty much the same but happened during an attempt to make @over-the-air data move from my wife's X-256G to XS-512G. I've always done full backup before but this time some happened and .. so I put both devices close to each other and Transfer started.. but after an hour I found that the New one informs about some problem occured and the Old one at the same time got freezed.. so my wife just rebooted the Old one because what could happen to Apple???

And then all this started: Apple-logo, boot-loop, dancing around PC with cables, Recovery Mode, third-party software (it doesn't help in this case - just trust me), Payment Refund (in process)...

All I can say it's a DRAMATIC problem for Apple as this stupid developer's memory leakage mistake causes device's total crash. And in case of iPhone's security your just loose everything!!! And that should be totally impossible for a $1200+ device..

The only thing Apple could do is a new IOS update with a much less memory needed to be loaded into the iPhone for it to start. They even can issue some "Recovery IOS" for the device to start, freeing memory and recovery. But it seems that nowadays Apple's HQ doesn't care about their loyal cliemts..

By the way you keep saying "you" and "your customers ", none of the contributors on here works for Apple.

The fixes are a combination of

  • Make sure you are on 13.6.1 or later before it is too late
  • Backup (or transfer photos) weekly in case of loss of phone
  • If you are in this situation and the phone is too full to do anything you will have to wipe the phone in Settings, General, Reset, Erase all content and settings. You will lose anything not backed up same as if you lost the phone but at least you still have the phone.

wow, what can I say? It sounds like we are all stupid customers not knowing how to take great care of your precious iPhone. Fixes or not, how about using the same tone when you try to get people to buy your iPhone. Like please be aware if you put too much stuff in your phone and don’t backup, it will die, as simple as that! Try it with iPhone 12 release and see how your sale number looks like. We are all shocked by the fact it can happen in the first. My iPhone 6s Plus got full as well, but it will tell you, please backup or free up space, instead of just die

Hi, you can check these links: If your iPhone is stuck on the Apple logo

iOS update and restore errors

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won't turn on or is frozen

Transfer photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Make sure that you're using an original Apple cable or the cable that came with your phone.

To get out of recovery mode, just force restart your phone: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Then press and hold the Side button until you see the Apple logo.

If you haven't backed up your phone or before restoring your phone, you may want to check with 3rd-party data recovery companies to recover the data from your phone.
