iPad keyboard/cover stopped working

My iPad keyboard/cover has stopped working. Cleaning contacts on iPad and keyboard/cover has not helped. Has this been a common problem? Is there any unpublisized warranty from Apple. I don’t want to buy another one from Apple if it’s going to fail in a couple years!
